April 27 – 28, 2019

Admittedly, this event is not for the faint of heart!  We’ll be hauling heavy items, unpacking boxes, and doing  lot of cleaning.  You clear out a corner and sleep in it, being sure to bring a thick sleeping bag, since it can still be rather chilly out.  However, we have a lot of fun, there is great camaraderie, and the food is tasty.

We are aware and regret that this falls on the last day of Passover this year. It was the better alternative to the week before — which includes the first day of Passover as well as Easter. Please feel free to come for the day Sunday!

This volunteer weekend is child friendly — we put the children right to work! But any child under 16 must be accompanied by an adult who takes responsibility for him/her.

If interested in attending for any or all of this weekend, email Vini Schoene, who will send along further details as the day approaches. We are ALWAYS grateful for the help.

Early November, 2019 (exact date TBA)

Join in on the largest international volunteer effort in the world: the Audubon Society Christmas Bird Count, started over 100 years ago as an alternative to the Christmas Bird Shoot…

To participate, you need to know your winter birds, and be up for trudging through backroads and old fields from dawn to dusk, tallying up every bird you see or hear. It also requires that you arrive in WV on Friday night, and stay at least until you turn in your results Saturday night.  If you are interested, please email Vini Schoene by December 22.
